115 islands make up Seychelles. Praslin Island is 27 miles (44 km) northeast of Mahé. It is the second-largest island in the Seychelles, after Mahé. Not only does Praslin have clean and lovely beaches, but it also has large areas of tropical forest where birds such as the Seychelles bulbul and Seychelles black parrot reside. The Vallée de Mai Nature Preserve is home to some of the world's most beautiful flowers. Praslin is close to Aride Island, Curieuse Island, La Digue Island, and Cousin Island.

Most people come to Praslin to see the Vallée de Mai, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the island's unique "coco de mer" palms. These palms produce the world's largest nuts, which can weigh up to 40 lb (18 kg). Birds such as the black parrot, fruit pigeon, and Seychelles bulbul inhabit Praslin. Allow at least two hours for the walk on the self-guided trail to explore the Vallée de Mai, located in the south-central part of the island. If you walk every trail, it can take a whole half-day.

Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette are considered as the most stunning and beautiful beach on the island.

The trip from Mahé takes about an hour, thanks to a fast boat service, or 15 minutes by Air Seychelles, domestic flight. A sailboat service goes to La Digue every day.

The people on Praslin are friendly, and I really like how slowly life moves there. It's best to stay for at least three nights.
